Fire Studies - Procreate

A set of hand-drawn fire studies exploring shape language, silhouette, and the way flame reads at different scales and speeds. Fire is the study I keep returning to, because almost everything that makes an effect work is visible in it: how a silhouette stays legible while it's constantly deforming, how quickly the eye finds the hottest point, how much detail you can cut before it stops reading as fire.

Drawn in Procreate on iPad, working from reference and from memory. These aren't concepts for a specific project. They're the foundation underneath the real-time work - the same decisions about shape flow, value structure, and color ramp that I make later in a particle system or a flipbook, made first with a pencil where iteration is cheap.
